What Is A Recumbent Bike?
Many Cateye recumbent bikes are recognized by a trailing R on the name, but not all of them. A recumbent bike is simply a bike frame that is designed more towards horizontal use than vertical use. The seat is usually a traditional “table” type of chair, with a wide bottom and a padded backrest.
Cateye EC-C400R recumbent bike
The Cateye EC-C400R bike is a Class A Ergometer. According to the European Committee For Standardization, there are 3 classes, A, B and C. Only Class A is certified as suitable for use in therapeutic applications.
For fitness centers, the EC-400R is intended for unsupervised commercial usage. This makes it perfect for physical therapy, training programs, and amateur fitness centers. The console is very user friendly, allowing almost anyone to be using the machine professionally within only a few minutes of effort.
Cateye EC-3500 recumbent bike
The EC-3500 exercise bike is also a Class A Ergometer, like the EC-C400R, but it packs more computing power and fitness discipline into an affordable package. The onboard computer can be programmed with up to 8 different biofeedback readouts, along with readouts for wattage, time, speed, distance, and calories burned.
Biometric monitoring is performed using photo-optic earlobe sensors, and innovation among exercise bikes, and a major contributor to accurate monitoring of the heart and pulse rates. The sensor clips on easily, and stays in place during even heavy exercise.
Other models of recumbent Cateye exercise bikes include the Cateye EC-3600 exercise bike, and the Cateye EC-8000 recumbent bike. The EC-3600 has 5 different programs built-in, and provides 6 different biofeedback readouts. It, too, is a Class A Ergometer, while the EC-8000 is one of the few Cateye recumbent bikes that is not specifically recommended for therapeutic purposes. Even the EC-8000 is great for routine exercise, though, and it is built to be universally adaptable according to the force applied, making it perfect for both the young and fit, and those who are not as physically strong as they once were.
